My Morning Routine

I find having a morning routine really sets my day up for success

Meditation

Studies suggest regular meditation increases daily calm and slows ageing. I personally prefer guided meditations to keep me on track. My two favourites are 'Tubes of Light' by Marie Diamond and 'Breathing Light' by Anthony William.

I try not to miss out this part of my routine as I really notice the difference in my well-being, inner calm and ability to attract positive interactions with others.

Lemon Water


🍋 1-2 glasses of filtered water with 1/4 lemon juiced in each glass.

🔸 Water helps remove toxins expelled by the liver overnight
🔸 Drink on an empty stomach, 15-30 mins away from other drinks
🔸 Avoid chewing the bits of lemon for dental health

Alternative: a plain glass of filtered water 💦

Celery Juice

Made with a masticating juicer and then sieved to remove any remaining fibre. Celery juice can also be made in a high-speed blender and strained using a nut bag. I drink it alone on an empty stomach, 15-30 minutes after lemon water and 15-30 minutes before breakfast.

I was inspired to drink celery juice experimentally after listening to Chronic Illness Expert, Anthony William, who receives his information from a spiritual source. I feel a noticeable difference in blood sugar balance, improved mood as well as better skin health when drinking celery juice.

Most of his claimed benefits, such as its ability to destroy viruses, have yet to be scientifically documented.

My Celery Juice Alternative
Lemon Ginger Water

If I'm out of celery, my go-to is lemon ginger water. Why? Not only does ginger balance blood sugar, it's also anti-inflammatory, the lemon water assists detoxification and it's quick to make.

Recipe:
🔸 1 cup of water
🔸 1/4 lemon, juiced

🔸 1 inch of grated ginger

Blend the above, then stir in:
🔸 1/2 teaspoon of raw honey

A Brisk Walk in Nature

Having strong connection with nature since childhood, I find daily walks in natural surroundings essential to my own well-being. I generally fit in two walks daily to meet my personal step count.

Known benefits include:

🔸 Exposure to daylight helps regulate your body clock
🔸 Brisk walks increase bone density

🔸 Opportunity for social interaction, beneficial for mental health

Breakfast Smoothie

Finally, the best part - breakfast!

One of my favourites is a fruit smoothie with banana, water and frozen fruit. Occasionally I add in random vegetables (such as raw courgette, lettuce or celery pulp), a handful of oats or, if I'm not enjoying a zero-fat morning, I might add in avocado, ground flaxseeds or soaked chia seeds.

Here's a simple tasty recipe you might like to try at home:


Blend:

🫐 2 fruit (eg. 1-2 handfuls of blueberries/other)
🔸 1.5-2 bananas OR 200g papaya (I find I need these quantities to sustain me until lunch)
🔸 a handful of leafy greens (eg. kale, spinach, parsley or coriander/cilantro)
🔸 a glass of water
